She lied to me...

She betrayed the one rule that I'm most adamant about: Honesty. Complete and utter fucking honesty .

I really wish she was someone else--someone who didn't have the ability to make me feel, someone I could easily discard like the hundreds of women before her.

She isn't.

I'm drawn to her like I've never been drawn to a woman before--completely captivated by the very sight of her. But unfortunately, with my past slowly re-surfacing for all of the world to see, I'll have to find a way to let her go.

She can never be mine.

Teaser

Subject: ASSHOLE.

Just emailing you to say hello since you haven’t reached out to me, and you haven’t heard from me in a while.

Hope all is well.

His response came immediately.

Subject: Re: ASSHOLE.

I fucked you this morning, and from what I remember, I heard you loud and clear.

—Andrew

Subject: Re: Re: ASSHOLE.

That’s not what I meant…I meant that you and I no longer talk on the phone or email each other like we used to. You only want to fuck, and you still have a big ass problem with leaving me hanging right after. Talking about the weather for five seconds once we get done is not what I meant by post-conversation and you know it.

You’re an asshole.

Excerpt

Heat placed the flowers on an empty table next to the bed and lowered himself into the only chair in the

room. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine. Just a few burns." The pain was more bearable now that it was muted by the bandages.

He shook his head and the same stubborn lock of his hair brushed across his forehead. "That's not what

the nurse told me. You got some serious burns on your arm."

"You talked to the nurse about me?" Should she be offended or touched?

"I was concerned."

"How can you be concerned about someone you haven't seen in years?"

Heat narrowed his eyes. "Whose fault is that? You were not only my best friend's wife—we were

friends... then you disappeared without a trace. What were you thinking, living in a shelter, when you

could have come to me for help?" A vein throbbed in his jaw.

"I'm not your responsibility. I never was. I'm a grown woman. I can do whatever it is I want."

"Looks like you still have your stubborn streak. Well, it won't get me off your back. Right now, I'm

making you my responsibility. You clearly need help if you're sleeping in a shelter. And as your friend, I'd

like to help."

Anger coursed through Melisa's body. Not necessarily directed toward him, but at the situation. The

fire and seeing Heat brought back memories she'd worked hard to repress, and those memories were

making it difficult to be grateful. "I was doing fine all by myself, thank you." She turned her head to the

window.

"Can you even afford to pay your medical bills?"

Melisa looked down at the bed and said nothing.

"That's what I thought." Heat’s eyes were the color of thunderclouds as he stood. "You stay in here as

long as you have to. I'll handle it." He paused, his dark gaze piercing the distance between them. "And

when you leave this place, you'll move in with me until you get back on your feet."

Before Melisa could respond, Heat marched out of the room to handle it, leaving her staring at

the door, seething with rage. She felt like throwing something. Maybe the vase of roses?

Excerpt

Without replying, Ian opened the door. They stepped into the room, and Alex laid eyes on the one woman he hadn’t been expecting to see. The same woman who’d haunted his dreams and sidetracked him from many of his nightmares.

Madison faced him head on. Her shoulders drawn back, golden-blonde hair pulled away from her face, she didn’t back down from his stare. She wore a pair of black slacks that hugged her curves and a white silky-looking top that clung to her generous breasts. And those unusually blue eyes frosted over at the sight of him.

“Alex, I believe you know Madison Evans.”

Blindsided — and his half brother knew it — Alex strode up to her. He inhaled her familiar fruity scent, which only served as a reminder of the hot times he’d spent breathing her in as his cock moved inside her body. Her effect on him was potent, and even the most common expressions failed him.

“Alex,” she said, her cool tone bringing his head out of the desire-filled fog he’d found himself in.

“Hey, Angel,” he said, using the endearment he’d started calling her during their brief time together. Another sign he’d had it bad, whether he’d wanted to admit it or not.

Her head whipped up, her eyes narrowing and settling on Ian. “This won’t work.” She turned to go.

Alex still had excellent reflexes, and he grabbed her arm before she could stride past him.

She glared.

He didn’t look away, determined to win this battle of wills. This potential job, which had interested him on an intellectual and emotional level initially, suddenly felt even more important, and she was the reason.

“We need to talk,” he insisted.

“I have nothing to say.”

“Ian’s proposition said otherwise.”

Madison looked over his shoulder in search of Ian and frowned. “Well, the traitor is gone. No big surprise there.”

Smart man, Alex thought. “If I let you go, will you stay long enough to discuss this position Ian and Riley want me to take?”

She let out a frustrated puff of air.

He took that as a yes and released her.

“Us working together is not a good idea, and somewhere in that thick head of yours, you know that.”

“Because we slept together? More than a couple of times?”

She set her jaw. “That was a mistake.”

Ouch. That hurt, he thought, and filed away the why to deal with later. “I want to know more about this training program and what my role in it would be.”

“Why? You can’t possibly be interested.”

“It sounds more like you don’t want me to be interested.”

She rolled her shoulders back even farther, stiffening her posture. “You’re right. I don’t. This is a serious project that could help a lot of people and have far-reaching positive repercussions for years to come. I need a partner willing to go all in. And let’s face it, I’ve seen your staying power. It’s nonexistent.”

SNEAK PEEK EXCERPT

I put the last of my groceries away, fold up the brown paper bags, and tuck them in the space between

my refrigerator and the kitchen wall. Turning around, I observe my little studio apartment. I see it all in

just a quick glance, because it’s about the size of a postage stamp.

While I just helped Gabby move into Hunter’s house, I certainly didn’t need to ask them to reciprocate

the favor. The only things I own are my clothes, and those were gifts to me from my mom. She had

taken me out shopping the day after I got home from prison, outfitting me with an entirely new

wardrobe. I mean… new as opposed to wearing prison garb for five years. I felt ashamed that my mom

had to buy her twenty-eight-year-old son clothes because he didn’t have a dime to his name.

Past my clothes and some basic toiletries, I have no other possessions. The car I’m driving is courtesy

of my parents… on loan, of course. It’s an old Chevy Malibu that had been sitting under a tarp, which

Dad used to drive. They don’t use it, but it runs fine. Mom and Dad tried to give it to me, but I wouldn’t

accept it. Instead, I capitulated only by agreeing that I was borrowing it until I could save up enough

money to buy it from them.

Luckily, this studio apartment came completely furnished, and the kitchen was stocked with dishes,

pots, pans, and utensils. I had all the basics that I needed to survive, because let’s face it… it wasn’t too

fucking hard to boil some Ramen noodles for dinner, and that was a huge step up from the prison food

I’d been eating.

So with my duffel bag filled with clothes purchased by my mom, I drove my old Chevy borrowed from

my parents to the grocery store and stocked up on some basic provisions. Then it took me all of five

minutes to move into my new home.

A knock on my door has me glancing down at my watch.

Right on time.

In three regular strides, I’m from one side of the apartment to the other and opening the door. There

stands my parole officer, Jimbo Peaks. He is six-foot-six of solid muscle, his neck as thick as a tree truck,

and his biceps the size of smoked hams. With skin darker than midnight, his light hazel eyes are spooky

as shit when he looks directly at you, in that contemplative sort of way I’ve come to know over the last

two months since I’ve been home.

“What’s up, Brody?” he says with a huge grin on his face, sticking his hand out for me to shake.

I take his hand, and it freaks me out how mine is dwarfed by his. I mean… I’m not a small man myself,

almost as tall as Jimbo, in fact. But when comparing my muscle mass to his, I feel downright puny and I

kept myself in pretty decent shape while in prison. Other than reading, working out was about the only

thing that was a resourceful use of my time.

“Come on in,” I tell him as I step back so he can enter.

Jimbo walks into my humble abode and turns around once. Yup… he’s seen everything. A small kitchen

on one side that merges right into my living room that abuts one wall. A double bed takes up the other

wall, and the bathroom takes up another. It’s four hundred and fifty feet of cozy living, situated right

above Mabel Fisher’s three-car garage.

Miss Mabel is older than Methuselah but has been a friend of our family’s since I was a baby. She’s

eccentric, rich as hell, and loves to thumb her nose at polite society.

And by polite society, I mean those people here on the islands that look at me in disdain because I killed

someone.

Not Mabel though. She was at my parents’ house within forty-eight hours of my return home, giving

me a hug and a papery kiss, then making me sit down while she drank tea and filled me in on all the

Outer Banks’ gossip for the past five years. She’s a trip… a breath of fresh air, and one of the few around

here willing to give me a chance. When she offered to rent this apartment to me for a ridiculously small

amount, I couldn’t say no.

“Nice digs man,” Jimbo’s deep voice rumbles. “All moved in?”

“Yup. Bag of clothes and some groceries. I’m settled.”

Jimbo chuckles and moves to my small kitchen table that seats only two people. Sitting down, he

motions to the other chair so I do the same. “How does it feel to be out of your parents’ house?”

I crack a small smile and tap my fingers on the kitchen table. “It’s good. I mean… I love my parents, but it

was time for me to get my own place.”

“Heard that,” Jimbo agrees, and then transitions into his next question. “How’s work going?”

“Going great,” I tell him, because it is. I enjoy working at Last Call, and I’m thankful as fuck I have a job.

Most parolees struggle to find work, or get shit jobs that scrape the bottom of the barrel. When they

can’t find work because no one will take a chance on them, they go back to a life of crime. If I had a

nickel for every repeat offender I met in prison, who was there just because they couldn’t make an

honest living, well… I’d be buying Mabel’s house from her rather than renting this apartment.

Jimbo doesn’t seem satisfied with my short answer, so he delves a bit more. It’s his job to make sure I

can acclimate to life on the outside, so I’m not bothered when he asks, “Any problem being around the

alcohol?”

“Nah,” I tell him genuinely. “No desire to drink at all.”

“That’s good,” he says with a smile. “Seeing as how that’s a condition of your parole.”

“Look, man… doesn’t matter if it’s a condition or not, there is nothing on this earth that could get me to

drink a drop of alcohol.”

“And why is that?” he asks, but he knows the answer.

I tell him anyway.

“Because it shattered my life. Because it killed a man. It left a mother without a husband and a little boy

without a father. Need any other reason?”

“No,” Jimbo says quietly, staring at me with those light eyes. “That’s a good enough reason.”

I hold his gaze, waiting for the next question. We’ve had this same meeting on five other occasions since

I came home, but today it’s being done at my new home so he can check it out. As a parole officer, his

role is part jail keeper, part counselor. It’s his responsibility to keep me on the straight and narrow, but

to also do what he can to make sure my head is clear when I’m making my choices. So that involves

talking… a lot. Just to make sure that the emotional and psychological toll of reentering the real world

doesn’t cast me in a downward spiral.

Yeah, I talk a lot to Jimbo. He knows more of my internal struggles dealing with life on the outside than

my family does. For whatever reason, I’ve been able to open up to him—somewhat—in a way that I just

haven’t with my family. I suppose that boils down to the simple fact that Jimbo asks me questions… asks

me how I’m feeling and how I’m coping. My parents, my identical twin Hunter, my baby sister, Casey…

while they love me more than the air they breathe, well… they’re just not sure what is open to talk

about and what may be taboo. So they walk on eggshells.

“Tell me some of the problems you’ve had adjusting?” Jimbo leads in.

Heard this question before too, and my answer the last time was, Not anything to tell.

I start to tell him the same thing, but the look on his face stops me. It says, And don’t hand me any

bullshit, either.

I suppose I can skirt the real issues only so long before Jimbo is apt to put me in a headlock and beat the

information out of me. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, I decide to go ahead and lay it out.

“I wake up at five AM every day, no matter what time I get to sleep the night before. It’s because I’ve

been getting up at the same time every morning for the last five years… because I had no choice but to

get up every morning at five AM. I don’t even know how to have a leisurely morning where I sleep in.

When I go to sleep at night, I can hear metal cots squeaking and my cell mate rubbing one off while he

tries to stifle his groans into the two-inch piece of flimsy foam that’s called a pillow. I hear the newbies

crying, and I hear the lifers telling them to shut the fuck up. When I’m awake… out in the real world, I

can’t walk around a blind corner without my palms sweating, because I’m expecting someone will be

there waiting to jump me. I was always on alert… I’m still always on alert. The air smells too fresh, the

food tastes too good, people talk too loud, and I’m having a hard time letting people touch me. It’s

overwhelming and that’s just for starters, Jimbo. So yeah,” I say with some sarcasm as my eyes drop to

the table. “I’m having a bit of an adjustment problem.”

“How does all of that make you feel?”

My eyes slowly rise to meet his. “I’m pissed off. All the time. I’m withdrawn, moody, and restless. I have

all this wide-open space available to me, yet I’m having a hard time straying too far from the things that

are safe to me. So I go to work, and I go home. That’s it.”

Jimbo gives me that contemplative look, and I can see the wheels turning inside his head. I’m prepared

for him to launch into a pep talk, about how I have a chance to make something with my life… to atone

for my mistakes and put the past behind me. Instead, he says, “You know… there’s something odd about

you.”

My eyebrows shoot up and, for a moment, I consider being affronted by that statement, but then I just

mentally shrug my shoulders. Odd is one of many things that I am.

“How’s that?” I ask.

“I’ve been doing this work close to twelve years now… and I can count on one hand the amount of

parolees I’ve had that don’t try to convince me that they didn’t do it… or they were framed… or hell,

even if they did do it, they blame a corrupt system for sending them away.” He pauses, his green-gold

eyes flickering back and forth between mine. “But not you. You accepted responsibility and never once

tried to blame someone or something else for your lot in life. It just makes you… odd.”

Shrugging my shoulders, I lean back in my chair. “No one to blame but myself.”

“That’s right,” Jimbo says with a nod. “No one to blame but yourself, and you’ve done a remarkable job

accepting responsibility. In fact, you’ve done such a good job at it… some might say that it would help

you have a clear conscience.”

“What’s your point?” I ask, genuinely curious as to where he’s going with this.

“My point is that if you truly took responsibility and had a clear conscience, then you should have some

measure of peace.”

I scratch my chin absently, pondering his words. I did the time. I took my lumps and accepted my

punishment. Should that give me peace?

Jimbo’s probably right. In those circumstances, maybe my soul should feel a little lighter… more free. If I

truly was remorseful for what happened, and I truly had done my penance, I shouldn’t be struggling the

way I am.

Except… my circumstances aren’t exactly the way Jimbo describes it. He sees my sorrow and guilt, but

he doesn’t see past that. Because there’s a whole lot more that makes up Brody Markham’s fucked-up

world than just the after effects of a few years in prison. My issues started before I even got sent away.

The Author

My name is Kirsty. I was born in Hertfordshire, England. In 2000 I moved to Norfolk, it was there that I met my husband, Lee. Now, what can I say about Lee, apart from everyone should have one? He's my biggest supporter, and I wouldn't be where I am today without his encouragement and endless support. He is my inspiration behind most of my male leads, I always try to bring a little of him in somewhere, be it his kindness, selflessness, or just his ability to make me feel treasured.

In 2005, I was gifted with the birth of my son. He is, and always will be, the best thing I have ever done in my life. As you can probably tell, I'm a very proud mummy. I have always been interested in writing, but after the birth of my son I accidentally came across an amateur writing site. After a couple of months of just reading on there, I finally plucked up the courage and posted one of my stories. I was shocked and overwhelmed by the support of readers on there and they gave me the confidence to get where I am today. In April 2012, I self-published my first novel ‘The Boy Who Sneaks in my Bedroom Window’. And in October 2012 I took the plunge again, publishing my second novel, 'Always You.' Lastly, if I had to sum myself up in one word, it would probably be ‘daydreamer’ – but unlike most of my school teachers, I don’t necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, I read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams….

He’s a better fighter...

Hudson Reyes has been a fighter for as long as he can remember, with enough scars to last several lifetimes. After his combat injuries retire him from the life he wasn’t ready to give up yet, Hudson forces himself back on his feet, building a new post-military career as a fight scene and weapons specialist in the film industry, spending his carbon copy days doing what he knows best: surviving. Until he meets her. The one woman that makes him want to live again. The one woman with hidden wounds as deep as his…and a wicked roundhouse kick that almost knocks him out the day he finally learns her name.

…but she has all the weapons.

An antique arms authenticator by day and a self-defense instructor by night, Liana Lin has made a living turning the demons of her past into the passions that fuel—and fill—her life. So when the unjustly handsome man she’s been unable to get out of her head literally takes her to the mat with fighting styles unlike anything she’s ever seen, and pins her with nothing more than a molten hot stare that promises things she won’t even let herself imagine, Lia makes damn sure the barbed wire fence around her heart is closed up tight. Because if one man could find a way to disarm her carefully-built defenses, it’d be him.

Synopsis

We're thirteen girls, captive, slave to our master.
A master we've never seen.
Obedience will become all we know in our shallow existence. It is the only emotion we're permitted to feel.
When we're bad, we're punished. When we're good, we're rewarded.
Our scars run deep. Yet we survive, because we have to...
because HE teaches us to.
All of us are special, we feel it with everything we are.
He has us for a reason, but it's a reason we don't know.
We've never seen his face, but we know that something deeply broken lies beneath the darkness. With every touch, with every punishment, we know it.
Then something changed.
He showed me who he truly is.
Now I want him.
I'll go against everything I know to be with him.

A monster.

My monster.

Loving him is a sin, but a sinner I am. I won't stop until I see every part of him. Even the parts he keeps locked deep down inside.

I am Number Thirteen, and this is my story.
No one said it was pretty, or right, but it's mine.

Synopsis

Moving to Miami was

supposed to be enough distance from her family and her past, but Paige Kerimov

can’t seem to get them out of her head. A year of self-induced solitude, nothing but

school, Paige reluctantly starts to let people back into her life, including one person

in particular; the insistent and attractive Brady Quinlan with whom she is paired

for a project that will impact her major. She has no choice but to work with him, no

matter how tough that makes it to deny her attraction to him.

As Paige lets her guard down, remnants of a violent

past and a tragic history start to resurface and Brady knows she is hiding something.

He tries to figure her out, but she can’t let him see when the truth is that she isn’t

sure if she’s in danger from anything other than herself.

Excerpt

I take a super long shower and turn the water as hot

as I can. It can’t erase those memories, but the sting of the water on my stitched up

arm actually has a cathartic effect. Only after the water starts to run lukewarm do I

get out. I thought that I had made peace with that scar on my thigh, so it bothers me

that I reacted so badly when Brady saw it.

Yes, it’s true that I’ve only had sex in the dark

before, but the possibility was always there that someone would see it.

Of course, none of those guys were anything more

than an opportunity for me to prove that I wasn’t damaged goods. One night stands;

both of them.

I dry my hair so that it doesn’t get frizzy and then

put it up in a twist. Sweats and a t-shirt are as much as I feel like wearing today in

the solemn mood I’m in.

I check my cell phone and see a new text from

Brady.

Victor is working at the front desk until three.

He will come up to your place right after. Do you want me there as well?

I sigh. I feel as though Brady wouldn’t have even

bothered asking if I wanted him here before I practically kicked him out earlier. I

didn’t mean to and I really regret it. I wish I could start this day over. I can’t, but I do

have an hour to fix one thing before this guy comes and plays detective in my very

private life.

I don’t want you to come over when Victor does.

I want you to come over now. I’m a pain in the ass and I don’t deserve you, but come

over anyway?

I hesitate for a moment before I hit the send button.

Did I really just call myself a pain in the ass? Yes, because it is the truth and because

it will lighten the mood a little bit. It can be tiring being so damn intense all the time,

and I’m used to me. What it must be like to be the person dealing with me, I have no

idea. Definitely not easy.

I hit send and wait for his reply.

And continue to wait.

After about 15 minutes, I throw the phone on the

floor of my bedroom and lay down on my bed to feel sorry for myself. Sorry for

screwing up what could have been the only emotional connection I’ve ever managed

with a guy. I draw my knees up and wring my hands together in frustration.

profile

I'm pretty sure I

could read before I could walk. I remember sneaking in extra reading time with a

flashlight as a kid after bedtime. Remember those shiny Lisa Frank sets? I traded

mine for paperbacks in the fifth grade. Some of my favorite authors include,

Christopher Pike, Anne Rice, and Sylvia Plath.

I write YA and New Adult. Currently, I live in South

Florida. Having changed my major three times, I'm still in college and I wait tables in

my spare (ha!) time.

People spend their whole lives being condescending cockstars. Assuming they know something when they don’t. Assuming they know who someone is when they have no idea. Assuming that, because they can see something, they understand it. Let me tell you right now, STOP ASSUMING! Until you walk a day in someone’s gold-studded hooker heels, you do not know them or their story. Do not assume your struggle is worse simply because it’s yours. Do not assume they are ok just because they look to be so. And do not assume you are a better person simply because someone chooses to sin differently than you.

My family has money. We buy what we want without fear of being destitute, and we will never worry about having food or any other necessities. My struggle in life is not with the money, but where it comes from. My father’s secret is carrying a hefty price tag that I can no longer afford. My soul is priceless, and he is stripping it away from me. My world isn’t all rainbows, sparkle, and diamonds falling from my exit hole like Rory’s story portrayed. For every high, there is a low, and the higher you go, the further you have to fall.

I have the best things in life, except for life itself. Everyone I love has moved away; my passion to exist has deflated; my job is a joke; but more than anything, I hate who I am allowing myself to become. Is there anyone strong enough to hold my hand on this road to self-preservation, or am I to travel it alone?

If you start my story, please find it in yourself to finish it before you judge me. Don’t assume you can know where I am headed without seeing where I have already been. I am Amandolette Riaz, and I am a glitzed-up glitch in today’s delicate world.

Trailer Park Princess(Book 1)

Sypnosis

Rory used to count down the days until she could leave, but now with a younger brother in tow, it would be hard. She could never leave him. Rory is trapped in the Trailer Park like a princess in her tower, with her mother playing the big bad, drunken, fire-breathing dragon. The dream of her knight coming to save her faded away about the same time her goals changed. Feeling useless, and angry Rory starts her new school and gets trampled by none other than the Monroe Falls Golden Boy, Tobias West. She finds herself seeing him as the knight she dreamed of; though, she believes it to be just that, a dream. Tobias (Toby) is Mr. Popular/Mr. Perfect/Mr. Money-in-the-bank. He is too high on the social ladder to step down to her level. Or is he? Toby is smitten with Rory. Toby’s ex, Ashley, refuses to lose out to trailer park trash, and Rory finds herself the fuel to Ashley’s newfound hate. On top of Monroe Falls High School drama, Rory still has to deal with her drunken mother and needy brother. She doesn’t have time for childish games. Reality hits Rory hard when her mother brings home a ticking time bomb for a bed mate and the need for that shiny knight becomes real. Rome appears like she conjured him out of thin air with magical powers, and instantly becomes her best friend. He seems to always be around when she needs someone to talk to and seems to always know just how to fix it. (Did I mention he is drop dead beautiful?) Two knights in shining armor? Nope!! That doesn’t happen. Not in fairy tales, and definitely not in real life. Rory finds herself realizing there is a thin line between relationships and friendships, lines that are starting to blur. With Toby getting ready to leave for college, Ashley’s nonstop meanness, and Rome showing up, can Rory handle the pressure? Her old friend reality takes another whack at her, causing her dread and despair to take over. Rory is questioning herself, and it's wreaking havoc on the strong girl she’s always considered herself to be. Have her poor choices doomed her to life in the trailer park, or will she be able to exceed even her own expectations? Will she ever realize she is truly a princess worthy of getting her prince? Or will she simply survive? How does Rory’s story end?

This book is suited best for readers over the age of 17 due to sexual content and some language, as well as a few different types of abuse that are rarely talked about: Verbal, Mental, and to some extent, Sexual and Physical
